CONTENT THERAPY NOTEPAD
Slightly unhinged, but always passionate takes on content, brand messaging, storytelling, thought leadership, or whatever we’re obsessing about this week. It could be Nicolas Cage or AI in content, depending on when you ask.

You don’t need a content strategy, you need content therapy
Content is like sex in a marriage. it’s very rarely the actual problem. If something’s off with it, it’s a symptom of a bigger problem you’ve tried to ignore. The service you’ve never baked out. The fear of really showing up. The uncomfortable conversation you haven’t had. The lack of consensus of who your ideal buyers are. You just need to be willing to admit it.

Real thought leaders aren’t perfect know-it-alls (+ tips)
Quite frankly, if you’re a perfect know-it-all who acts like they know everything and only tells me stuff that makes me happy, I’m not going to trust you, and the right people won’t either. You’ll be the kind of person or brand that makes everyone slightly uncomfortable because perfection does not exist.

Why do we conform when we say we want to stand out?
We all have our own vicious, fear-based cycles we play out over and over again throughout our lives, and many of them are deeply (and understandably) rooted in some sort of situational trauma. But in terms of our collective fear of rejection, as a species, our internalized traumas wreaking havoc in present day is only part of the story.

To find your voice, you must first confront your demons
Before we start creating our content, crafting our messaging, or writing that talk, there is another step we must take. We must acknowledge that deep within every single one of us – no matter how brilliant and smart and genuinely visionary we are – is at least one tiny kernel of fear.
